Dubai’s Healthcare Sector Expands with a Surge in Home Care Services
Dubai’s healthcare landscape experienced significant transformation during the first half of 2026, headlined by a remarkable 22.7% jump in home healthcare facilities. With the number of licensed providers rising from 203 to 249, this shift highlights a growing preference for patient-centered care, allowing residents to receive medical treatment within the comfort of their own homes. This surge in home-based services was part of a broader upward trend, as the total number of licensed health facilities in the emirate climbed to 5,931, supported by a workforce of over 70,000 professionals.
Beyond home care, the sector saw robust growth in pharmacies, medical complexes, and specialized clinics, with obstetrics, gynecology, and pediatrics leading the demand. Dr. Alawi Alsheikh-Ali, Director General of the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), noted that this expansion is a direct result of Dubai's commitment to creating an investment-friendly environment that prioritizes high-quality, sustainable care. To ensure these standards are maintained, the DHA ramped up its regulatory oversight, conducting over 5,300 inspections during this period. These efforts have clearly paid off, as compliance rates among medical facilities improved to 80%, signaling a health sector that is maturing in both capacity and operational excellence.
