Heartbreaking Farewell: Community Gathers for Mother and Son Lost in Abu Dhabi Tragedy
A profound sense of sorrow filled a non-Muslim cemetery in Al Ain this past Thursday as hundreds of community members gathered to pay their final respects to a mother and her teenage son. Oshima Chowdhury, a travel consultant, and her 15-year-old son, Orittro Bishawsh, tragically lost their lives in a devastating vehicle collision on the Al Ain Road near Al Wathba Bridge. The community turned out in force to support the grieving family, holding solemn funeral rites that lasted throughout the afternoon.
The fatal incident occurred while the family was traveling together, with the father, engineer Swaroop Kanti Biswas, behind the wheel when an SUV struck their vehicle from behind. While Mr. Biswas survived the accident with injuries and has since been discharged from the hospital, the impact proved fatal for his wife and eighth-grade son at the scene. Following the completion of official formalities and a period at the Baniyas central morgue, the community’s presence offered a small measure of comfort to a family facing an unimaginable loss.
