Bird Strike Grounds Emirates Flight in Delhi

Sat, Oct 17, 2026(48m ago)UAE

An Emirates flight scheduled to travel from Delhi back to Dubai faced significant delays this past weekend after being involved in a bird strike upon arrival. The airline confirmed that flight EK517, which landed in the Indian capital on October 17, sustained an impact that necessitated immediate maintenance checks. Consequently, the return journey was rescheduled to depart Delhi at 7:00 am local time on October 18. Emirates has proactively arranged hotel accommodations for the impacted passengers while the aircraft undergoes repairs.

While bird strikes are a common challenge in the aviation industry, they rarely lead to severe outcomes. Most incidents occur during the takeoff or landing phases when planes are at lower altitudes, and while they happen frequently, they seldom result in significant damage. An Emirates spokesperson emphasized that the airline remains committed to passenger safety above all else, offering apologies for the inconvenience and ensuring that the necessary protocols are followed before the aircraft is cleared to return to the skies.
