Liwa Festival Returns to UAE’s Desert Sands this December
The highly anticipated Liwa Festival is making its grand return to the heart of the Al Dhafra desert, running from December 11, 2026, to January 2, 2027. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Tal Moreeb, the UAE’s tallest sand dune, the event promises an upgraded experience with over 50% of its attractions being entirely new. To enhance the visitor experience, organizers are launching an official festival app, which will serve as a one-stop hub for booking camping spots, RV parking, and keeping track of the event's packed schedule. Thrill-seekers can look forward to major debuts like the Bungee Jump and the high-octane Nitro Circus, joining a massive lineup of motorsport championships and desert sports that highlight the region's unique adventure culture.
Beyond the adrenaline-fueled competitions and rides, the festival serves as a deep dive into Emirati heritage at the reimagined Liwa Village. Modeled after a traditional "Al Fareej" neighborhood, the village invites guests to immerse themselves in local customs through falconry demonstrations, Nabati poetry sessions, and workshops on traditional weaving and Gahwa preparation. With the event expanding its footprint to historic forts across the Al Dhafra region, it offers a perfect blend of modern entertainment and historical preservation. Following a record-breaking year that saw over 700,000 attendees, this season aims to solidify the festival’s reputation as the premier winter destination for families and culture enthusiasts alike.
