Dubai Public Prosecution’s Innovative Approach to Supporting People of Determination
To ensure greater accessibility to justice, Dubai Public Prosecution has introduced the "Niabat Al Dar" initiative, a thoughtful program designed to assist victims and witnesses who are people of determination. Rather than forcing these individuals to endure the stress of visiting official offices, trained prosecutors and clerks now travel directly to their homes or designated partner facilities, such as specialized hospital rooms. Armed with portable investigation kits, these teams conduct necessary interviews in comfortable, familiar environments, effectively removing the logistical barriers that often hinder those with mobility or health challenges.
The initiative goes beyond mere convenience by prioritizing the unique communication and psychological needs of each participant. The prosecution team includes specialized experts, such as sign-language interpreters for those with hearing impairments and prosecutors specifically trained to work with individuals with intellectual disabilities or autism. First Advocate General Dr. Mohammed Al Hammadi emphasized that this bespoke support system has been evolving for roughly five years and has even earned global recognition from the International Association of Prosecutors for its pioneering role in making the legal process more inclusive.
