Sharjah Enhances Digital Services for Mourning Tents and Fire Recovery
The Sharjah Civil Defence Authority has launched a significant digital upgrade aimed at streamlining essential services for residents. Through a new electronic integration with the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (Sewa), families wishing to set up mourning tents can now secure the necessary no-objection certificates in under three minutes via the Digital Sharjah app. Once approved, the details are automatically shared with Sewa, removing the burden of manual paperwork or travel between offices during difficult times.
This initiative also extends to residents and business owners recovering from fire damage, simplifying the often-stressful process of restoring electricity. Necessary safety certifications are now transmitted digitally between agencies, eliminating the need for in-person visits to facilitate reconnections. Notably, residential reconnection fees are waived for fire victims as part of these new measures. Major General Yousuf Obaid Harmoul Al Shamsi highlighted that these improvements reflect a commitment to supporting the community by reducing administrative hurdles while maintaining strict safety standards.
