Dubai Police Crack Down on Noisy Vehicles and Illegal Modifications

Wed, Oct 21, 2026(1h ago)UAE

In a significant effort to improve road safety and maintain peace in residential areas, Dubai Police have impounded over 1,600 vehicles during the first nine months of 2026. Data from the General Department of Traffic reveals that authorities issued 7,735 fines during this period, with a primary focus on vehicles causing excessive noise and those featuring unauthorized engine or chassis modifications. Officials noted that these modifications not only cause public disturbance but can also create hazardous distractions for other motorists, potentially leading to road accidents.

To combat these issues, the authorities are scaling up their enforcement efforts by deploying advanced noise-detection technology across the city’s roadways. Under current UAE traffic laws, offenders face heavy penalties, including fines up to Dh2,000, 12 black points, and mandatory vehicle impoundment. Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan has urged drivers, especially younger motorists, to refrain from making illegal alterations to their vehicles. As these stricter measures take hold, police report a noticeable decline in noise-related complaints and remain committed to fostering a quieter, safer driving environment for all residents.
