Teen Driver Held After Dubai Hit-and-Run Leaves Pedestrian Hospitalized

Tue, May 12, 2026(101d ago)UAE

Dubai authorities are currently investigating a serious hit-and-run incident involving a 14-year-old driver that left a Chinese expat hospitalized. The victim initially returned home following an evening walk with visible injuries, which his family first mistook for the aftermath of an assault. However, as his health rapidly declined overnight due to severe head trauma and exhaustion, his wife sought emergency medical care. Subsequent police inquiries clarified that the man had been struck by a vehicle driven by an underage boy on March 17, contradicting the initial belief that he had been attacked.

Although emergency responders had arrived at the scene on the night of the accident, the victim had declined to file a formal report, likely unaware of the severity of his internal injuries at the time. Following the hospitalization, police were able to track down and apprehend the young driver. In response to the incident, officials have issued a stern warning to parents regarding the dangers of allowing minors to operate vehicles, emphasizing the significant legal and safety implications involved. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are urging the public to prioritize immediate medical assessment and reporting after any road-related incident.
