Global Coalition Led by UAE Blocks Over 123 Million Fraud Attempts
In a significant win for international law enforcement, a UAE-led initiative dubbed "Operation Confrontation Ghost" has successfully dismantled a massive wave of global illicit activity. According to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, the collaborative effort managed to intercept more than 123 million fraud attempts and recover roughly $39 billion in assets. The mission, which involved 30 countries, 13 multinational corporations, and two major international organizations, also led to the arrests of over 960 suspects involved in these sophisticated criminal networks.
First unveiled in September during the UN Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice in Abu Dhabi, the operation focuses on modern threats such as AI-driven scams, digital extortion, and complex financial fraud. By utilizing real-time intelligence sharing, participating nations were able to neutralize emerging risks with unprecedented precision. Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAEâs Minister of Interior, emphasized that these achievements highlight the vital importance of borderless security partnerships, stating that the success of such missions is defined not by the number of participants, but by their measurable impact on global human safety.
