UAE Prepares Infrastructure for Upcoming Rainy Season
As the rainy season approaches, the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure has launched a comprehensive initiative to ensure the nation's road network remains safe and functional. Maintenance crews have completed inspections of 17 pumping stations and over 800 stormwater drains located along federal roads. Beyond clearing debris from wadi crossings, the ministry has strategically positioned emergency teams and specialized machinery across the country to quickly address potential water accumulation, ensuring that traffic flow remains uninterrupted during heavy downpours.
To bolster these efforts, the ministry has upgraded its monitoring capabilities for dams and water infrastructure. By utilizing an advanced network of sensors and cameras, officials can track water levels in real-time and trigger early flood warnings that link directly to a central control room. Mohammed Al Mansoori, the ministry's undersecretary, emphasized that these proactive measuresâranging from sediment removal at dams to coordinated inter-agency emergency planningâare essential to safeguarding residents and maintaining critical services when weather conditions become challenging.
