Dubai Police Reminds Pedestrians of Dh400 Jaywalking Fine

Fri, Oct 23, 2026(1h ago)UAE

Dubai Police has launched a fresh awareness initiative aimed at curbing road accidents by emphasizing the critical importance of pedestrian safety. As part of this push, authorities are reminding the public that crossing the road in undesignated areas or ignoring traffic signals is a punishable offense under Article 89 of the Federal Traffic Law. Those caught violating these rules face a fine of Dh400, a measure intended to discourage risky behavior and ensure compliance with traffic regulations.

Brigadier Majid Sultan Al Suwaidi highlighted that road safety is a collective duty, urging everyone to utilize marked crossings and strictly follow pedestrian traffic signals. Beyond focusing on walkers, the campaign also serves as a stern reminder to motorists. Drivers are being encouraged to stay alert, reduce their speed, and always yield to pedestrians at designated zones—particularly in high-traffic, densely populated parts of the city—to help foster a safer environment for all road users.
