UAE President Extends Condolences Following Death of Former Yemeni Leader
UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has officially extended his condolences to Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, the Chairman of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, following the death of former President Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi. Similar messages of sympathy were also dispatched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, and Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister, to honor the late leader’s passing.
Hadi, who was in his eighties, died this week in Riyadh after suffering a sudden health crisis. He had been residing in Saudi Arabia since 2015, the same year he was forced to flee Yemen due to the conflict with Houthi rebels. Before stepping down in 2022 to transition power to the current Presidential Leadership Council, Hadi had served as president since 2012, stepping into the role after the long-standing administration of Ali Abdullah Saleh concluded amid the Arab Spring. Today, Yemen continues to grapple with a profound humanitarian crisis and significant political fragmentation.
