Dubai Police Apprehend Eight in Elaborate Dh12-Million Oud Scam
In a swift operation, Dubai Police successfully apprehended an eight-member criminal gang involved in the audacious theft of a rare luxury oud valued at Dh12 million. The intricate scam began when two members of the group approached a merchant, claiming that a high-profile princess was interested in purchasing his expensive product. To add credibility to their ruse, the suspects organized a lavish reception at a private villa, complete with hired bodyguards, to convince the unsuspecting seller of their legitimacy.
Once the merchant arrived with the precious goods, the gang requested he wait in another room while they purportedly finalized the deal. During this time, they expertly swapped the authentic, high-value oud for common wood pieces. The deception was only uncovered the following day when the merchant found the suspects' phones disconnected. Dubai Police acted with remarkable speed, tracking down the initial four suspects within 12 hours and launching a coordinated effort that led to the capture of the remaining four, effectively closing the case on this sophisticated fraud.
