Dubai’s Parkin Launches AI-Powered Curb and Pole Parking Cameras
Dubai’s parking operator, Parkin, has officially launched an initiative to modernize urban mobility by installing over 500 AI-driven curb and pole cameras across key areas, including the Burj Khalifa district, Trade Centre 1, and Al Corniche. These new systems, which are the first of their kind in the region, are designed to make parking more efficient and stress-free. By automating the payment process and providing real-time data on space occupancy through the Parkin app, the company aims to significantly reduce the time drivers spend circling for spots and minimize the risk of accidental fines.
The technology relies on solar-powered, AI-enabled cameras that automatically scan license plates to log entry and exit times, ensuring seamless billing via the Parkin Wallet. Beyond these fixed installations, Parkin is also expanding its reach with 200 additional cameras in various controlled parking zones. Furthermore, the company is testing roof-mounted scan camera systems on inspection vehicles. This innovation, which began trials earlier this year, is expected to streamline enforcement in the city’s most congested neighborhoods, ultimately cutting down on traffic and improving the overall parking experience for residents and visitors alike.
