Ajman Updates Government Employee Benefits and Working Hours
The Government of Ajman has officially unveiled a new legislative framework aimed at enhancing the work-life balance and overall well-being of its public sector staff. Issued under the direct instructions of the emirate's Ruler, this comprehensive law is scheduled to take effect on September 1, 2026, marking a significant shift in the region's labor policies.
The new regulations introduce a variety of progressive leave options, including dedicated time off for family care, marriage, and personal entrepreneurship pursuits. Furthermore, the law emphasizes inclusivity by offering specialized leave categories for employees with disabilities. To better support specific personnel, the government has also mandated reduced working hours for expectant mothers, individuals with disabilities, and staff members who are primary providers for five or more children under the age of 18.
