Philippine President Marcos Demands Enhanced Security Protocols in Schools

Sat, Jun 27, 2026(1h ago)World

In the wake of a string of harrowing violent incidents occurring on school grounds, President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has issued a firm directive to government agencies to overhaul safety protocols for students nationwide. The President expressed deep concern over recent tragedies, including a fatal school shooting in Tacloban City and multiple stabbing cases in Cavite, emphasizing that educational institutions must be safe havens for development rather than sites of fear. He has instructed the police, along with health and education departments, to work in unison to foster a secure environment that protects the youth from both physical danger and the hidden emotional burdens they may face.

Beyond legislative and security measures, President Marcos highlighted the critical role of moral values and family communication in curbing the rising tide of youth violence. He urged parents and guardians to prioritize active listening and understanding, noting that a child’s well-being is often strengthened by meaningful daily connection at home. By promoting a culture of respect and empathy, the administration hopes to safeguard the next generation, reinforcing the message to students that their lives are invaluable and that seeking help is a courageous, necessary step in addressing their personal struggles.
