Saudi Arabia Unveils New ETA Scheme for British Travelers
Starting July 1, British passport holders gained access to a new Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) system, streamlining the process for visiting Saudi Arabia. This initiative allows travelers to enter the Kingdom multiple times for tourism, business engagements, or short-term educational purposes. Under the new policy, eligible British nationals can enjoy a total stay of up to 180 days within a single year, whether that time is spent during one continuous trip or spread across several shorter visits.
It is important to note that this digital authorization does not replace traditional visa requirements for every scenario. Individuals planning to move to the country for employment, secure residency, or travel specifically to perform the Hajj pilgrimage must still apply for the appropriate, specialized visas. According to the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this move is designed to strengthen diplomatic ties and mirror the reciprocal visa arrangements already provided to Saudi citizens by the United Kingdom.
