Thailand Adjusts Visa-Free Entry Rules: Essential Tips for Indian Travelers
Thailand has officially scaled back its visa-free stay duration for visitors from over 90 countries, including India, the UAE, the UK, and the US. While travelers previously enjoyed a 60-day exemption to help stimulate the tourism sector, the period has now been reduced to 30 days. Although tourists can request a single 30-day extension at the discretion of immigration officials, this shift represents a significant change for those planning extended trips to the region.
In response to these updates, the Indian Embassy has released a formal advisory to ensure travelers remain compliant with entry requirements. Visitors are strongly encouraged to arrive with a passport valid for at least six months, proof of confirmed return flights, and verifiable hotel accommodations. Furthermore, tourists utilizing the visa waiver or visa-on-arrival facilities should carry a minimum of 20,000 THB in cash and ensure their Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) is completed within 72 hours of their journey. Maintaining organized, individual documentation for every group member is crucial to a smooth experience at the immigration counter.
