Tragic Train-Bus Collision in Bangkok Leaves Multiple Dead
A devastating collision occurred in Bangkok this past Saturday when a freight train slammed into a public bus at a railway crossing, resulting in at least eight fatalities and 32 injuries. Emergency responders rushed to the scene near the Airport Rail Link’s Makkasan Station as the impact sparked a fierce blaze that quickly consumed the bus and several surrounding vehicles, including motorcycles and cars.
Initial investigations suggest that the bus was trapped on the tracks due to heavy traffic at a red light, leaving it unable to clear the crossing before the train arrived. Eyewitnesses described a chaotic scene where the train dragged multiple vehicles along the tracks before coming to a halt. While local fire crews were eventually able to extinguish the flames and rescue survivors, the incident has once again highlighted the ongoing concerns regarding Thailand’s road safety and the country's struggle with maintaining strict transportation regulations.
