Tragedy in Balochistan: Nine Police Officers Killed in Dam Attack

Tue, Jul 7, 2026(45d ago)World

A violent assault on a police checkpoint in Pakistan’s Balochistan province has left nine officers dead. The attack targeted security personnel assigned to guard the Mangi Dam project, a critical infrastructure site in the restive southwestern region. According to local authorities, the situation remains dire as several other officers are currently reported missing following the raid.

Abdul Qudoos, a senior district official, confirmed the heavy loss of life, a toll that has since been corroborated by the provincial government. While the area has long been a flashpoint for militant activity, this latest strike highlights the ongoing security challenges surrounding key development projects in the region. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, though no group has immediately claimed responsibility for the ambush.
