Pakistan Passport Climbs to 100th Spot on Global Index
The Pakistani passport has shown positive momentum on the latest Henley Passport Index, reaching the 100th position in 2026. This marks a notable improvement from its 103rd ranking in 2025, offering citizens visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 30 countries. While the passport has spent much of the last decade fluctuating below the 100th spot, this steady climb comes as welcome news for travelers planning their upcoming trips. Globally, Singapore maintains its lead as the most powerful passport, with access to 192 destinations, followed closely by the UAE, Japan, and South Korea.
Beyond the index, Pakistan is taking active steps to improve travel convenience for its citizens through bilateral agreements. A significant development includes the recent agreement with the UAE to introduce "pre-immigration clearance" for Pakistani travelers. Initially launching as a pilot project in Karachi, this initiative aims to streamline the travel process by allowing passengers to complete necessary immigration and security checks before departing Pakistan. Such efforts, combined with the gradual improvement in global rankings, signal a proactive approach toward enhancing international mobility for Pakistani nationals.
