Delhi Police Blocks Cockroach Janta Party’s Planned Parliament March

Mon, Jul 20, 2026(17h ago)World

The Delhi Police has officially clarified that no authorization has been granted for a proposed march to Parliament by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), scheduled for July 20. In an effort to maintain order ahead of the upcoming parliamentary session, authorities have enforced Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), which strictly forbids unauthorized assemblies of five or more people. Officials have issued a stern warning that anyone attempting to participate in this banned protest will face legal prosecution, emphasizing that these measures are essential to ensuring the security of government installations and public safety.

The CJP’s call for action was intended to support social activist Sonam Wangchuk, who has been on an indefinite hunger strike since June 28 to protest recent exam paper leaks. Wangchuk, who was recently hospitalized due to health complications, has framed this movement as a fight for justice and freedom from administrative fear. Following his hospitalization, CJP founder Abhijit Dipike joined the protest by initiating his own hunger strike. Despite these high-stakes grievances, the police maintain that the prohibitory orders remain absolute and have urged the public to refrain from joining any unsanctioned gatherings to prevent potential conflict.
