Arrest Made at Manila Airport Over Outstanding Warrant

Wed, Jul 22, 2026(45d ago)World

A 54-year-old Filipino traveler arriving from Dubai was taken into custody at Ninoy Aquino International Airport this past Saturday after immigration officials discovered an active warrant against him. Upon clearing the checkpoint, he was promptly handed over to the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group. The individual is currently facing charges related to violence against women and children, with a bail amount set at P72,000 to secure his temporary release. While authorities have not disclosed his identity or details regarding his time abroad, he remains in police custody at the airport facility.

Brigadier General Dionisio Bartolome emphasized that the apprehension highlights the effectiveness of the ongoing collaboration between immigration and law enforcement to prevent airports from being used by fugitives to evade justice. This incident is part of a broader crackdown at Philippine ports of entry, where officials have recently intensified efforts to intercept individuals wanted for various crimes, ranging from financial fraud to major drug trafficking operations. By strengthening security protocols, authorities aim to ensure that these transportation hubs are no longer viable escape routes for those with significant legal liabilities.
