Chris Brown Pleads Guilty to Affray Following London Nightclub Altercation

Fri, Jul 24, 2026(1d ago)World

American singer Chris Brown has officially pleaded guilty to a charge of affray in a London courtroom, bringing a close to legal proceedings stemming from a 2023 incident at the Tape nightclub. Standing alongside his co-defendant, Omololu Akinlolu, Brown entered the plea at Southwark Crown Court, prompting prosecutors to drop more severe allegations, including attempted grievous bodily harm and assault causing actual bodily harm. The move effectively cancels the trial that had been scheduled for October.

The case centered on accusations that the singer had initiated an unprovoked attack against music producer Abraham Diaw using a tequila bottle. Following his arrest earlier this year, Brown had faced significant legal hurdles, including an initial bail denial that threatened the future of his international concert tour. After securing his release by posting a substantial security fee, the entertainer appeared in court on Friday to resolve the matter. Both Brown and Akinlolu are now awaiting their formal sentencing, which is slated for October 26.
