All Eight Filipino Teachers Safe Following Tragic Thailand School Shooting
Following a harrowing shooting incident at Debsirin Nonthaburi School north of Bangkok on Friday, August 7, the Philippine Embassy in Thailand has confirmed that all eight Filipino educators working at the institution are safe and accounted for. Officials stated on Saturday that none of the Filipino staff members sustained injuries, and there have been no reports of other Filipino nationals being affected by the violence.
The tragedy unfolded when a student opened fire at the school, resulting in the deaths of five people before the perpetrator took his own life. Authorities later discovered that the student had also killed his grandparents at their home earlier that day. Thai officials noted that the teenager had been struggling with academic stress. In response to the tragedy, the Philippine Embassy has expressed deep condolences to the victims' families and the school community, emphasizing that the Philippines stands in solidarity with Thailand during this period of mourning while continuing to monitor the situation for any further developments.
