China is currently on high alert as the eastern coast prepares for the arrival of Typhoon Dolphin, forcing authorities to issue their most severe red-level warning. The storm, which recently brought intense winds and heavy rainfall to Japan’s Okinawa region, is projected to hit land between Zhejiang and Fujian provinces by late Sunday or early Monday. In anticipation of the severe weather, nearly 100,000 residents living in vulnerable areas of Fujian have been relocated, while maritime activities have been significantly restricted, with hundreds of construction vessels recalled to port and dozens of ferry routes suspended.

The transportation sector has faced widespread disruption, with over 1,600 flights cancelled across major hubs in Shanghai and Hangzhou, alongside the suspension of several regional train services. Meteorologists are warning of extraordinary rainfall that is expected to impact Shanghai, as well as the Anhui and Jiangsu provinces. As the storm pushes inland, it is anticipated to gradually weaken, yet emergency crews remain on standby to mitigate the impact of the heavy downpours and strong winds that have already caused power outages and structural concerns throughout the region.
