Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian Holds Rare Meeting with Supreme Leader

Mon, Aug 10, 2026(1h ago)World

In a significant development, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian recently held a private meeting with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, marking a rare public acknowledgment of their communication. The Supreme Leader’s office released a statement confirming that the two leaders discussed the nation’s pressing internal challenges, alongside the complexities of the current military situation and potential future paths for the country. This interaction follows growing uncertainty surrounding the Supreme Leader, who has remained largely out of the public eye since the onset of the regional conflict.

Concerns regarding the Supreme Leader’s well-being had intensified after President Pezeshkian noted earlier in the week that direct contact with Khamenei had become increasingly difficult. These rumors were further fueled by reports suggesting the leader was injured during recent strikes. In an effort to address the public speculation, a general from the Revolutionary Guards mentioned that visual evidence of the Supreme Leader’s activities would be shared at a later date. Meanwhile, diplomatic efforts to resolve the ongoing hostilities remain stalled, with official communication between Iran and the United States currently relegated to indirect messaging via intermediaries.
