Tragic Factory Fire in Riyadh Claims 16 Bangladeshi Lives

Mon, Aug 10, 2026(1h ago)World

A devastating fire at a sofa manufacturing plant in Riyadh’s Musa Sanaia district has claimed the lives of at least 16 Bangladeshi expatriates. Following the disaster, which occurred on Sunday, August 9, officials from the Bangladeshi embassy arrived at the scene to coordinate with local Saudi authorities. The primary focus of these missions is to identify the victims and manage the legal procedures required for the eventual repatriation of their remains to Bangladesh.

The Bangladeshi Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a statement expressing profound grief and solidarity with the families of the victims. Embassy staff are currently maintaining constant communication with the grieving families to provide necessary support and gather information for identification purposes. The government has pledged to continue monitoring the situation closely and will facilitate the return of the deceased once all formal requirements have been satisfied and family consent has been obtained.
