Tom Moffat, CEO of the WCA, emphasized that a robust cricket ecosystem relies on players having a meaningful say in the sport's trajectory. By consolidating their influence, Sri Lankan cricketers aim to better advocate for their professional interests, a move strongly supported by women’s team captain Chamari Athapaththu. This collective stance is expected to be particularly influential in future negotiations regarding player permissions for global franchise leagues, bringing Sri Lanka into alignment with the vast majority of cricket-playing nations that now operate under the WCA umbrella.
