Jeff Bezos and Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin Nearing Stake in Liverpool

Tue, Aug 11, 2026(44m ago)World

Reports suggest that a high-profile investment consortium, featuring Amazon’s Jeff Bezos and Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin, is on the brink of securing a one-third stake in Liverpool Football Club. The group is reportedly being spearheaded by Amit Bhatia, a former Queens Park Rangers shareholder and son-in-law of steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal. Fenway Sports Group (FSG), which has controlled the historic club since 2010, is expected to finalize this deal shortly, which would place the club’s total valuation at a staggering £4.4 billion.

This potential partnership arrives as Liverpool undergoes a period of significant transition both on and off the field. Following a lackluster fifth-place finish last season, the club has overhauled its leadership, appointing Andoni Iraola as manager after parting ways with Arne Slot, while adjusting to the departure of star forward Mohamed Salah. Despite these recent shifts, Liverpool remains a global powerhouse with a rich trophy cabinet, and this massive financial injection highlights the remarkable growth the club has experienced during its 16-year tenure under FSG.
