A major gasoline reservoir at Libya’s Zawiya refinery, the country's second-largest, was destroyed on Monday following a targeted drone attack. The National Oil Corporation (NOC) reported that the reservoir, which held roughly 4.5 million liters of gasoline, suffered a catastrophic collapse after being struck by an unidentified assailant. While emergency crews have been deployed to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby infrastructure, the NOC has warned that these persistent security threats could force a complete shutdown of operations at the facility, which typically processes 120,000 barrels per day.

Authorities confirmed that there were no major casualties, with emergency responders reporting only minor cases of smoke inhalation. In the wake of the incident—the third such strike in two days—the NOC has declared a state of emergency and called for a formal investigation, while the Libyan parliament’s energy committee has urged for increased security at vital national assets.
