According to reports from the Chennai Airport Authority, the aircraft experienced an inoperative left engine, prompting the crew to declare a full emergency. The emergency status was officially lifted ten minutes after arrival, with all operations reported as normal.

This incident follows a separate, more distressing event involving an Air India flight from Phuket to New Delhi earlier this month. In that case, the Airbus A320 carrying 145 people on board experienced a sudden altitude drop, leading to injuries for 17 passengers. Authorities are currently investigating that event, which has been further complicated by reports regarding the chief pilot’s drug test results.
