A 5.4 magnitude earthquake jolted northeastern Pakistan this past Thursday. According to data from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the seismic activity was centered roughly 260 kilometers northeast of Battagram at a depth of 35 kilometers. Fortunately, initial reports indicate that there were no casualties or significant infrastructure damage resulting from the event.

Meanwhile, the Ladakh region in India experienced its own seismic unrest on the same day. The National Centre for Seismology recorded an initial 5.5 magnitude earthquake near Leh during the early morning hours, occurring at a shallow depth of 10 kilometers. This was followed by a secondary tremor measuring 4.3 magnitude just before 10:00 am. Authorities have confirmed that, much like in Pakistan, there have been no immediate reports of injuries or major property destruction in the area.
