Tragedy Strikes: Two US Soldiers Killed in Texas Helicopter Crash

Thu, Aug 13, 2026(3h ago)World

A devastating incident occurred on Wednesday when an AH-64 Apache helicopter stationed at Fort Hood crashed into a field in Bell County, Texas. Local authorities confirmed that the accident, which took place approximately 60 miles north of Austin, resulted in the immediate death of both soldiers on board. The impact of the crash ignited a significant grass fire, prompting an emergency response from several local fire departments to contain the blaze and secure the crash site.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott publicly expressed his condolences on social media, acknowledging the loss of the two military personnel during a routine operation. While Fort Hood officials have formally confirmed the fatality of the soldiers, they have chosen to withhold their names until the families of the deceased have been properly notified. Investigation efforts are currently underway to determine the cause of the wreckage as the military community mourns this profound loss.
