While the two leaders secured a landslide victory under the "UniTeam" banner in 2022, their partnership lasted only a year before public friction emerged over policy disagreements. Duterte, who is currently facing an impeachment trial in the Senate, declared her intention to run for the presidency as early as February. In response to the growing speculation, Marcos maintained that his focus remains on finding a "nation builder" who is genuinely committed to the country's progress and the welfare of its citizens.
