Reliance Industries Teams Up with Rolls-Royce to Power India’s Indigenous Fighter Jets

Sat, Aug 15, 2026(1h ago)World

In a significant move to bolster India’s military self-reliance, Reliance Industries and Rolls-Royce have officially announced a strategic partnership to design and manufacture engines for the nation’s Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) program. As India seeks to modernize its air force and transition away from a heavy reliance on foreign arms imports, this collaboration marks a pivotal step in the "Make in India" initiative. By leveraging Rolls-Royce’s world-class engineering expertise in propulsion systems and Reliance’s expanding footprint in the defense sector, the two companies aim to develop a sovereign, indigenous engine for India’s fifth-generation stealth fighter.

While the financial details of the investment remain undisclosed, the partnership is viewed as a foundational milestone for India's aerospace industry. Leaders from both companies emphasized that the project is designed to build long-term national capability, transforming India into a globally competitive player in advanced propulsion technology. This development aligns with broader government efforts to modernize the armed forces through domestic production, a strategy that has recently seen increased budget allocations for everything from naval submarines to sophisticated electronic warfare systems.
