A devastating stampede at the Ashokdham Temple in Lakhisarai, Bihar, has resulted in the deaths of at least six devotees, with several others sustaining injuries. The incident occurred early Monday morning when an overwhelming influx of people gathered at the temple site. According to local officials, the situation turned chaotic around 6:30 am, exacerbated by the arrival of two trains that brought a sudden, massive surge of pilgrims to the area.

District Magistrate Shailendra Kumar noted that despite prior arrangements to manage the crowds, the sheer pressure of the gathering proved uncontrollable. The tragedy reportedly unfolded when a section of the barricades gave way, causing people to fall and trigger a deadly chain reaction. Emergency response teams were dispatched immediately to the scene, and those injured have been transported to nearby hospitals. Authorities are currently maintaining a heavy presence at the temple to stabilize the situation and prevent further accidents while an investigation into the collapse continues.
