Pakistani Authorities Bust Massive Scam Call Center in Islamabad
In a significant crackdown on illicit operations, Pakistani officials announced the detention of 258 foreign nationals following a raid on a sophisticated "scam call center" located in the outskirts of Islamabad. The operation, conducted by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in the Gulberg Green housing society, uncovered a large group of individuals who had entered the country on tourist visas while allegedly engaging in unauthorized, fraudulent business activities. Among those taken into custody are 40 Chinese nationals, 170 Vietnamese citizens, and several others from various Asian countries, all of whom are currently being held in a Rawalpindi jail.
The FIA is currently coordinating with the respective embassies of the detained individuals as the investigation continues. While specific charges are still being finalized, officials have indicated that deportation is a likely outcome for those found in violation of their visa terms and local laws. This incident marks the second major operation of its kind in recent months, following a similar bust in July 2025 where authorities dismantled a call center linked to Ponzi schemes and investment fraud. Further details regarding the case are expected to be disclosed by the authorities in the coming days.
