On August 22, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) successfully facilitated the return of 63 Filipinos to their home country. This group included 46 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) arriving from Kuwait via Kuwait Airways and 17 seafarers who were brought home safely following a distressing maritime incident. The seafarers were the survivors of an attack on their vessel, the M/V Minoan Dignity, which was struck by a projectile near the Strait of Hormuz on August 18. Tragically, the incident resulted in the loss of one Filipino chief engineer, while the remaining 17 crew members were rescued and taken to Khasab, Oman, before being cleared for travel back to Manila.

Upon their arrival at Ninoy Aquino International Airport, both groups received immediate support from government agencies, including the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and OWWA. The returning OFWs were provided with financial aid, food, and assistance in arranging transportation to their home provinces. Meanwhile, the surviving seafarers were met by medical teams and representatives from their manning agencies to ensure a smooth transition back to their families. Moving forward, OWWA has pledged ongoing support through their regional offices, offering a variety of reintegration programs that include counseling, livelihood assistance, and help with finding new employment opportunities.
