In a compassionate gesture marking the occasion of Prophet Muhammad’s birthday, Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman has granted a royal pardon to 459 individuals currently serving sentences for various offenses. According to an official statement released by the Oman News Agency, this decision was made by the Sultan in his capacity as the Supreme Commander, with the primary aim of easing the burden on the families of those incarcerated and allowing them to reunite with their loved ones during this significant religious observance.

This act of clemency aligns with a long-standing tradition in the Sultanate, where state leadership frequently grants pardons during major national and religious holidays. This recent measure follows a similar initiative held during Eid Al Fitr, when 350 prisoners, including foreign nationals, were released.
