Kuwaiti authorities have successfully executed the largest drug bust in the country’s history, uncovering a massive cache of Lyrica that carries an estimated market value of Dh1.78 billion. During a recent anti-drug awareness event, First Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al Sabah revealed that the operation resulted in the seizure of five tons of raw Lyrica powder and nearly four million finished capsules. Security forces also dismantled a sophisticated, fully equipped factory used for the production, packaging, and distribution of the drug, marking a significant blow to local smuggling operations.

Beyond the seizure, the government is intensifying its focus on a holistic strategy that combines strict law enforcement with compassionate rehabilitation. The Ministry of Interior is collaborating with health and social services to ensure that those struggling with addiction have access to modern, private treatment facilities, including a specialized center for women and upcoming expansions for men.
