A devastating flash flood hit the Himalayan border region between Nepal and Tibet on Wednesday, leaving at least 384 travelers missing. According to Nepal's tourism board, 291 of those unaccounted for are foreign nationals, including 105 Indian citizens. The disaster has wreaked havoc on infrastructure, wiping out homes, bridges, and critical power projects, while simultaneously claiming at least nine lives across the affected territories.

Rescue efforts have been severely hampered by the extreme weather, as helicopters were unable to land in the hardest-hit areas of Syapru Besi and Timure due to surging river levels. Among the missing are eight South Korean nationals employed by Korea Energy and Doosan Enerbility, who were working on a local hydropower plant. In response, South Korea has mobilized a rapid-response task force to assist in search and rescue operations, while authorities in both Nepal and China warn that the death toll could climb as the scale of the destruction continues to unfold.
