As search and rescue operations intensify in the wake of the catastrophic flash floods along the Nepal-Tibet border, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs has reported that 320 Indian citizens remain uncontactable. Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal noted that these figures are currently fluid as authorities work to cross-reference various lists of the missing. In addition to these citizens, approximately 100 people of Indian origin—who hold foreign passports and were participating in the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra—also remain unreachable.

Despite the uncertainty, there have been significant rescue successes, with 21 Indians safely returning to Delhi after being evacuated to Kathmandu. Additionally, 63 Indian workers from the Trishuli One hydropower project were rescued on August 27, and another 96 individuals who were stranded on the Chinese side of the border have successfully crossed back into Nepal by land. The Indian government, led by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, is maintaining constant communication with embassies in Kathmandu and Beijing to prioritize the safety and swift evacuation of all affected individuals amidst the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Nepal.
