The Tooro Kingdom in Uganda is mourning the loss of its ruler, King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, who has passed away at the age of 34. Known globally for his unique status as the world’s youngest reigning monarch, King Oyo ascended to the throne as a toddler following his father's sudden death in 1995. While his coronation took place once he reached the age of 18, he had long been a symbol of tradition for the Tooro people, who reside in the western region of Uganda and number over two million.

The King reportedly passed away while undergoing medical treatment in the United States, following weeks of growing concern regarding his health. Although Uganda operates as a republic under President Yoweri Museveni, the nation officially maintains several traditional kingdoms that serve as vital cultural and ceremonial institutions.
