In a major move to boost tourism, business, and cultural ties, Uzbekistan has officially introduced a 30-day visa-free entry policy for Indian citizens. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced the initiative during high-level discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Tashkent. This decision marks a significant milestone in the relationship between the two nations, which was first established diplomatically in 1992. President Mirziyoyev emphasized that India is a trusted strategic partner, noting that bilateral trade has recently surpassed the $1 billion mark, accompanied by a sevenfold increase in joint business ventures and an expansion in direct flight connectivity.

Beyond economic growth, the strengthening of bilateral relations is deeply rooted in shared cultural and human connections. President Mirziyoyev highlighted the growing popularity of Yoga in Uzbekistan, supported by a national federation and dedicated festivals, alongside the work of cultural centers like the Lal Bahadur Shastri Centre.
