The death toll from the catastrophic flash floods along the Nepal-Tibet border has reached 955, with 939 fatalities recorded in Nepal alone. As rescue operations stretch into their sixth day, officials report that the number of missing persons in Nepal has decreased to 3,925, including 592 foreign nationals. This downward trend is largely attributed to a revised count of workers at hydropower sites, which bore the brunt of the deluge, though thousands remain unaccounted for across districts like Nuwakot and Rasuwa.

The disaster has also left a significant mark on local infrastructure and security personnel, with dozens of army soldiers, police officers, and immigration officials among those still missing. Across the border in Tibet, Chinese state media confirmed an additional 16 deaths and 546 missing individuals. Furthermore, the impact has extended beyond the immediate region; authorities in India’s Uttar Pradesh state have recovered 17 bodies from rivers flowing out of Nepal, though these victims have yet to be identified or officially added to the primary casualty figures.
