Ikea Slashes Prices on 1,500 Products Across Europe to Combat Inflation

Tue, Sep 1, 2026(2h ago)World

Furniture giant Ikea is taking significant steps to support shoppers struggling with the rising cost of living by cutting prices on roughly 1,500 products across Europe. Starting September 1, customers can expect savings of up to 28% on some of the brand's most recognizable items, such as the Billy bookcase and Kallax storage units. While these reductions represent a major financial investment of 1.2 billion euros from the company’s various franchises, leadership remains committed to the strategy, emphasizing that the move is a long-term effort to keep their goods affordable.

Despite previous earnings reports reflecting a hit to revenue and profit, company officials remain optimistic that higher sales volume will sustain the business without placing undue pressure on their suppliers. Beyond the European market, the company is also dedicating an additional 70 million euros to help stabilize prices and offset inflationary challenges in North America and Asia. This latest initiative follows a broader trend for the Swedish retailer, which has already invested billions over the past year to lower prices following a brief period of pandemic-related increases.
