A lone green house standing amidst the wreckage of Nepal’s recent flash floods has captured global attention, transforming from a viral social media clip into a poignant symbol of survival. For Laxmi Pandey and her family, however, the structure represents a harrowing brush with death. Recounting the chaotic scene from August 26 along the Trishuli River, Pandey described how she frantically tried to warn her mother-in-law of the incoming torrent. As the nearby bridge collapsed and water swallowed the surrounding land, the family found themselves trapped, eventually retreating to the upper floor as their home shook violently—a sensation Pandey likened to the devastating 2015 earthquake.
