Egypt’s Petroleum Minister, Karim Badawi, has announced that the Damietta regasification vessel, which suffered damage during a drone strike this past July, is on track to resume full operations by the fourth quarter of this year. Despite the setback caused by the incident, officials confirmed that the local gas market remained stable and unaffected by the disruption.

Beyond the repairs at Damietta, Egypt is seeing a significant turnaround in its energy sector after years of stagnation. Exploration efforts have yielded 112 new discoveries in just two years, with major projects like Eni’s Denise field being fast-tracked for production by 2027. Furthermore, the government has successfully resumed operations at the Narges field and brought new wells online in the Western Desert, a strategic push aimed at offsetting natural decline and bolstering the nation's ambition to function as a primary regional gas hub.
