India Takes Action Against 'Noodle King' Over Food Safety Violations

Fri, Sep 4, 2026(21h ago)World

Indian regulatory authorities have launched a significant crackdown on CG Foods India, the domestic subsidiary of the company owned by Nepal’s billionaire Binod Chaudhary, famously known as the "Noodle King." The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) ordered a halt to the production of specific Wai Wai snacks after an inspection of a factory in Rajasthan revealed alarming hygiene standards. Investigators discovered that the facility was recycling broken, floor-collected noodles into popular fried snacks known as bhujia without subjecting them to necessary heat treatments.

Beyond the unhygienic manufacturing practices, officials seized approximately 32,000 kilograms of inventory along with nearly 2,000 boxes of expired finished products. The FSSAI has initiated formal legal proceedings against the company, and further lab tests are currently underway to assess the safety of the collected samples. This intervention is part of a broader, intensifying campaign across India aimed at ensuring stringent food safety and labeling compliance among both major international brands and smaller snack producers.
